The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) was formed on 1 Apr 2003 from a merger of Singapore Immigration & Registration (SIR) and a significant part of Customs & Excise Department (CED). The mission of ICA is to ensure that the movement of people, goods and conveyances through our checkpoints is legitimate and lawful.
A visit to ICA would thus give students a better understanding of its roles and functions, in addition to how the Tuas Command operates to clear people, goods and conveyances. Students would also learn about the immigration offender problem, our enforcement efforts against immigration offenders and smuggling of contraband. In short, the visit would allow students to appreciate the important role that ICA plays in making Singapore a safe and secure best home for Singaporeans.
