The objective of a visit to the Sembawang Town Council is for students to understand the work of Town Councils since its formation in 1986.
With the Sembawang Town Council as an example, students will learn about the Town Councils organisational structure, its roles and responsibilities, the day-to-day operations, and the challenges faced by Town Councils. Through a visit to our Estates, students will get a glimpse of what goes into maintaining a Town - the routine maintenance, cyclical and improvement works, Essential Maintenance Services, and Upgrading Programmes.
With a deeper understanding of the work involved in building and maintaining a pleasant living environment, students will be able to play a more active role as responsible residents of their Town.
