Learning Objectives

A visit to our ENVision Gallery under the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (MEWR) will give students an opportunity to find out more about Singapore’s environment journey from past to present. At the end of the visit, students will learn about our environmental achievements for the past few decades as well as our current efforts toward environmental sustainability.

From a sleepy backwater to a modern metropolis, Singapore’s environmental journey is a an integral part of the remarkable story – a story of bold visions coupled with meticulous planning and implementation; passion; pragmatism, courage in the face of adversity and above all, the dedication and commitment of its people. We invite you and your students to take a walk through the ENVision Gallery and be inspired to help create the next exciting chapter of our environmental story as it continues to unfold in the ensuing generations.

Learning Site

The ENVision Gallery is a one-stop showcase of Singapore’s remarkable environment story – achievements for the past few decades, current efforts towards environmental sustainability and future challenges. The environment story is unfolded through 5 distinct zones in the ENVision gallery.

The journey beings with an appreciation of the environment we enjoy today, where students learn about Singapore’s 4 strategic thrusts of clean air, water, land and high standards of public health. Students will then relive the olden days and experience Singapore’s less than ideal living conditions in the 60s, before entering an awareness zone where they discover more about their personal behaviour and our environment.

Moving on, students will discover how energy efficient measures in the transport, power generation and industry, buildings, water and households sectors help ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

As students approach the final zone, they will be inspired by environmental champions who have been honoured for their significant contributions towards protecting our environment and water resources. Before leaving the gallery, students can also send an animated e-card to their friends to help spread the environment message.
