Learning Objectives

b. The pitfalls and scourge of corruption;

c. An understanding of what corruption is and how to avoid it; and

d. An insight into how the Bureau fulfils its mission in the fight against corruption, showcasing some of
    the landmark probes.

Learning Site
Established in 1952, CPIB comes under the Prime Minister's Office. It is sited at No. 2 Lengkok Bahru, Singapore 159047.

CPIB's mission is to combat corruption through swift and sure, firm but fair action.

Singapore is one of the few countries in the world where corruption is under control.   Since 1995, Hong Kong based Political and Economic Risk Consultancy has consistently ranked Singapore as the least corrupt amongst 13 Asian economy entities.   Since 2004, the Germany based  Transparency International's Corruption Perception Index has also ranked Singapore as the top 5 least corrupt country in the world.   In 2007, TI rated Singapore as the 4th least corrupt country out of 180 countries surveyed globally.
